A Foggy Seaside Sunday

Yesterday, it was rainy and foggy. I didn't use that as an excuse, however, to just sit inside. There is just so much beauty along this coast of ours. I am happy to share it with you. Whether you live near enough to experience the ocean and seaside communities for yourself or if you live far, far away....these were taken with you in mind. If you are familiar with coastal towns, then you know that as soon as you leave one, you enter another. The coast from a small seaside town called Pawleys Island to Myrtle Beach covers all of about 15 miles. When I took the first photo here in Myrtle Beach it had just stopped raining. Next, I drove south to Pawleys Island and worked my way back north. By the time I finished in Garden City....the fog had really set in. I hope you enjoy my view of the seaside...through the lens of a camera.

So here we began in Myrtle Beach, SC
The Path to the sea

Behind the Dunes

The end of Pawleys.

Creekside

Pawleys Island fokelore tells of a Gray Man that appears before storms to warn residents of impending storms or danger. What do you think? I honestly could not tell what this was when I took the picture.

Old Fisherman Crossing

Old Church in Pawleys Island

Murrells Inlet, SC

Belin Methodist Church sits creekside

The Docks of Murrells Inlet

The Creeks of Murrells Inlet

I love the way the colors of this boat stand out against the foggy background.

Ending back at Myrtle Beach

And here back at the same path as we began, you can see that the fog has rolled in.

Have a great Sunday!

  2. Thank you for sharing these wonderful impressions with us. I love it. I think I'll post some photos of our winter holiday on Helgoland, a tiny island in the north sea. Winter at the seaside is great.

  3. Hi Laurie, I loved your pictures of the beach. We let the kids walk in the sand on the beach when we went to Florida one year. That is the only time I have been that close to the ocean. Your picture does looks like there is a man in it. You just never know. I enjoyed your previous post and I chuckled in a few places. I really like the picture of Jason looking under the bed. Kids, you have to love them. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from your Missouri Friend.

    1. Thank you so much Lynn. A fellow South Carolinian, wow! What part of SC are you from? And yes, we do have a beautiful state. It is so diverse. I could just explore everyday, if that were possible.

  5. I love your photos...so beautiful and I love the "gray man" too! Very mysterious! Thanks for taking me on your drive. I love the ocean but live nowhere near one. (There is a small lake nearby..) I'm heading out west in a few weeks to Portland where I hope to take a drive to the ocean...I'd hate to be so near and miss it! Enjoy your Sunday too and have a good week.

  7. I enjoyed your tour of the area. It is very lovely, as I remember, in your captured moments. Your gray man is quite a picture for that folk tale. Very interesting!

    1. Hi Cathryn, I've yet to make it through Vicki's GYB list. I did visit your blog today and must say that you have very pretty cross-stitch designs. I have not cross-stitched in years, but maybe someday soon I can pick it back up. I'll be watching you. And, thank you for your kind comments. ~Laurie

  9. Hi Laurie, thanks so much for sharing these photos and good for you not letting fog and rain keep you indoors! It's funny because today I was looking for a new picture for my desktop background and wanted something with the ocean and fog... and voila there you were!

  11. That's the spirit! You didn't give a second thought on going to the beach. I guess there's nothing can stop us from having one great and productive day. This is definitely the advantage of living near at the seaside - you would able to capture lovely photos. But the 'Gray man' is quite scary.
