This Time Of Year

Eeeek....I'm getting so excited. It's almost time for my favorite holiday. Thanksgiving!
It's the beginning of the holiday seasons, y'all.

The most gorgeous colors are on display.

There are leaves everywhere, the weather is cool, it's time for fires and sweaters and knitting and Russian Tea. I'm so thankful for this time of year.

Even though Thanksgiving is so near and I want my house to be all perfect, let's face it....it's a project. I've unpacked all the boxes and now I'm faced with finding space for all the things I've unpacked. I've found that what worked at my house in Andrews will not work here at the lake. I need bookshelves and built-ins and I need a few more cabinets. The painters are coming week after next. It can get overwhelming and I need to keep reminding myself to take it one step at a time.

So, the first order of business was to replace my old dining chairs. Heck, this is not even the dining table that I used in Andrews. I used this table somewhere else, but now that we've downsized, I think it works well here. The old ladder backs I used for this table had seen better days. So, I bought some new ones. I love them! And I'm starting to play around with the decorations. I'm sure this table decor will change probably a couple of times before I'm satisfied with it. Anyway, just thought I would give you a little peek at the progress. Yes, I know. I'm late getting the fall decor out, but I've been busy. Hopefully, the Christmas decorations won't take so long.

Til Soon,
Laurie

  1. Right when I saw your first picture, I thought your centerpiece was lovely. Then seeing the view with it on the table, I like it even more. Don't change it! Settling into a "new" home is always a challenge, but I know you'll have it just as you want it in short order. You definitely have an eye for decorating.

    1. Well thank you Mama Pea! Decorating is not one of my favorite things to do.....but, I do like what I like and when I get it just right, I tend to leave it like that for a long time. I sure do hope settling in comes in short order. I really want this house to feel like home and I know it will in time.

    1. You are so sweet Linda! Thank you for your kind comments. I think Thanksgiving will be perfect, too. Not because of any decorations, but because I'll be spending it with the people I love the most. Yes, I'm looking forward to Christmas with my new friends, too! And again, thanks.....My mama is precious!

    1. Well thanks, Connie! That means a lot coming from someone who rocks decor like nobody's business. Something tells me that yours will be much more colorful than mine.

  6. Laurie, I have always heard when you only have a small space or only want a small table to use a round one...that way you can get a few more people around that table. I loved your pretty tree photos. I think the sweetest of our autumn is gone for this year. Wishing you a fabulous weekend, xoxo,Susie

    1. Thanks, Susie! That's what I thought, too. I've had this round oak table for 30 something years and have always seemed to find the perfect spot for it. I think I found that spot here at the lake, also. Looking at the picture now, I think it needs a little refinishing, though. Hope you have a great weekend, too.

  8. I have always waned a round dining room table. Ours is long, big and bulky..and, though it is pretty I would have liked a round one. Glad this one fits in your new smaller space. xo Diana
