Mason Jar Cake

Does this look delicious or what? I saw a recipe for a mug cake on Pinterest and tweaked it to make it my own. After you gather your ingredients, it takes all of 5 minutes to make and that includes the 1-1/2 minutes it takes to cook in the microwave.  Quick and easy for those cravings for something, but you just don't know for what.

Mason Jar Peanut Butter and Nutella Cake

4 tbsp self-rising flour
4 tbsp sugar
1 beaten egg
2 tbsp peanut butter
1 tbsp Nutella
3 tbsp milk
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp nuts (optional)

Instructions:
Mix flour and sugar in a pint sized mason jar. Add egg, then peanut butter, Nutella, milk and oil. Stir. Sprinkle nuts on top. Microwave on high for 1-1/2 minutes.

Go on...go make yourself one. You know you want to.

  1. I make lots of different flavored vegan mug cakes when I want something sweet but not too unhealthy. In fact, one time I made vegan chocolate mug cakes for me, my husband, and a guest -- they pop out of the cup so nicely once you get the recipe just right and topped with powdered sugar, they make a nice dessert. Our guest loved it. :)

  2. I have a whole pinterest board of these and still haven't made one yet! I think they are so cute and love the idea of the whole cake not looking at me calling my name...lol.....

    1. Not having the whole cake calling your name is the best... Wouldn't they be cute served individually like that at a special dinner? Or, if you could figure out how much batter to put in a half-pint jar, would be better.

  3. I thought it had the look of a moist spice type cake and could almost smell it . . . until you shared the ingredients! Just goes to show you should never assume. :o} Reminds me of a chocolate cake a local restaurant serves that looks as if it was baked in a half pint jar . . . just the right size.

    1. Haha! It was moist, though. I'm going to try the half pint. I think that size serving would be just right. Although, I did eat the whole pint jar one. It's called glutenous. Ha!!

  4. That sounds so good I think I will try it! I had never thought to ever make a cake in the microwave. I, too, often find recipes on Pinterest and then tweak them.

  5. What a great idea. Afterwards you don't have an entire cake setting around calling your name and in the end adding to your hips. Thanks for sharing.
    Have a sweet week.

  8. Hmmm. I have everything on hand except for the Nutella. I try not to keep that in the house. it is too easy to eat by the spoonful.

    1. Haha, Janey! Nutella is my go to chocolate fix. I DO eat it and peanut butter by the spoonful.
