Grab The Bull By The Horns

Yep, I figure this is what I need to do.

To my children and grandchildren......

If one day I end up crazy, it started today. I can not believe that it is only Tuesday and my daggum nerves have gone fool! The half-marathon is not until Sunday and I'm already in overdrive.

Help!

I can not stand this!

Why is this happening? I've run how many miles? I've run how many races now? This should not be an issue. I can't even go out and do an easy 3-mile run this morning because every time I start to dress in my running clothes, my stomach starts to flip flop.

It's bad....I'm telling you it's bad! I'm talking to myself, to my gut, to my nerves...... nothing is working.

I guess the only thing left to do is grab the bull by the horns and just go.

Well now that you know when I started to go crazy, I'm going to try putting on my running clothes again and see if I can haul that bull to the ground.

Time will tell.

  1. Wow! This is early for those nerves to kick in. :-/ Did they calm down once you went for your run this morning? My run this morning was tough. I guess there are just days that, even though my mind is into it, my body just isn't. I got it done though. Ugh! :-/ Here's to better days and runs ahead. And, for those nerves to calm down so you can enjoy your week and that race. Good luck and have fun! :-D

    1. I know.... It's crazy! Yes, my nerves finally settled down and I was able to get my run in. It was actually pretty descent. And I vote for the nasty nerves to go to someone else's house Sunday morning.

  5. I love this post, as usual! You will do GREAT!!!! When I get nervous in the time leading up to a race, I go over in my head all the races and big runs I have done before and remind myself that this is just another one of those. I can't wait to read your race report!

  6. Instead of freaking out with anxiety try to enjoy all the butterflies. It's just like being in love ;)
Ask experienced actors and they will tell you they still feel like that before each play. Ask experienced scientists and they will tell you they still can't eat the meal before their big seminar. Each race is a race, and all the nerves will go away when you start running. Good luck and enjoy it all!! You are already a DIVA! :)

    1. That's a pretty good analogy, Sara. Thank you so much! I know the nerves will disappear the moment I step foot at the start. But boy, they play a number on me before. I'll be fine and I will finish, Woo Hoo!

  8. When you stop being nervous I think that means you don't care as much. Take it as a good sign...a sign that you should keep it up and give 'em heck! You can do it and you'll do it with grace and have fun too. Keep us informed! Good luck!
