At the end of
church service yesterday, the pastor asked the congregation to have a seat. He explained that a very lovely couple had celebrated their 40th
wedding anniversary last week and that they wanted to renew their wedding vows, today,
in front of family and church friends. Oh fun! I was excited.
The pianist began
playing Pachelbel’s Canon in D and then the lovely couple began walking hand in
hand down the aisle. As they approached the pastor, he had them join him at
the pulpit. He gave a brief history of their lives for the past 40 years and
then proceeded to have them repeat their wedding vows. I couldn’t help but
smile because you could see the love and happiness this couple was experiencing.
And at the end…..they
kissed! So Sweet!
Sitting there, I
already knew that Cliff would say something about it after church. So, I
decided ahead of time what my response would be. I wanted to shock him, no wait…...I
wanted to scare the bejeebies out of him. HaHa!
Sure enough, we
were walking to the car and Cliff said, “I didn’t know I would be going to a
wedding, today.” Without batting an eye, I said, “We are so doing
that when we’ve been married 40 years”. And
just as soon as I got the words out of my mouth....Cliff said, “Pffft”.
Backfired!
It didn’t even
phase him. I can never get one up on him. LOL!!
Laurie
We will celebrate 46 years in April and there is no way I would ever get Steve to do that!
ReplyDeleteI laughed when I saw your blog title in my blog roll. We just came home from seeing La La Land and now we are listening to the sound track.
HaHa! We know our men, don't we? When I first saw previews for La La Land, I figured I would get some views because of my blog name. That's too funny. How was it?
DeleteLOL!! Well, you know each other... so well! ;) LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet idea. I would have enjoyed being there. blessings and hugs ~ tanna
Hey, Tanna. We do! I thought it was sweet, too.
DeleteYou two are so funny! I asked Nick if he would marry me again. He siad "yes,"! Ive been planning my second wedding now for years! Hahaha

ReplyDeleteLol!! Me, either! Can you imagine?
DeleteWe went to a 40 year vow renewal a couple of years ago, too. It was great and they had a REAL RECEPTION afterwards! Amazing. Hmmmm...wonder how many of us would fit into our wedding gowns? lol xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI bet the reception was fun! I know I couldn't fit into my wedding gown, but I still have that pretty little thang tucked away in my closet.
DeleteSo sweet but one wedding is enough for most men, I think!
ReplyDeleteWe had Canon in D by Pachelbel played at our wedding too and its still my favourite!
One wedding was enough for me too, lol! I just love Pachelbel's Canon in D, also.
DeleteOh Laurie...he knew you were kidding...he knows you too well!
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun to have a party though!!
Our 45th is next Fall...geesh...I need a drink! 🍷
enjoy your week...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
He really does know me so well. He knew I was bluffing. Great idea about the party, though. We've been married for 36 years. Guess I have a few years yet for that party.
DeleteWe had a lovely party for our 40th. We did go back to the Church where we took our vows but not for a ceremony, just to take Mom to church. Or as Jack puts it "Returning to the scene of the crime"...very funny!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny!
DeleteOkay, so Cliff said, "Pffft!" but I'll bet it gave him something to think about!! (Hee-hee.)
ReplyDeleteHaHa! I doubt it. He knew I was kidding. One wedding was enough for me.
DeleteHahah, good try anyway ;)
ReplyDeleteLol!!
DeleteI thought you were going to say it was you and cliff..that he surprised you.
ReplyDeleteI live in fairyland.
Jacques would never do that either..We went to one.
