In A Pickle

All I wanted was a pickle. I took the jar from the fridge and tried to open it, but I could not get the lid off. I thought, dang, I need to start working out with the weights, again. I am weak!

It took nearly a minute before I realized that the clear cellophane wrapper was still on the lid. HaHa!!

Dear Mt. Olive people, the cellophane is full proof or fool proof or both.

I don't know what's worse, losing brain cells or muscle strength.

  1. Laurie, Thank you for the laugh...you may as well sit down and eat some pickles and enjoy live. LOL. I tell you I would take all day if it took it to open something. I can tell that I am losing my forearm strength. You would think with all the wood chucking I do I'd have Pop-eye arms. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. HaHa! One things for sure, Pop-eye, I'm not putting the lid back on tight.

  2. I gently tap around the lid and usually I can get them off. If not, I give it to my hubby who has strong hands from all those adjustments he gives folks daily!

  4. The really frustrating thing is when you can't get the cellophane wrapper off! I've almost caused myself serious injury using a pair of sharp, pointy scissors or knife trying to remove that dang thing. (Life is dangerous, isn't it?) ;o]

  5. There are days like that... I have had them, and not too few of them. I also think pickle jars are often way too tight, cellophane wrapped or not!

  6. I would say your eyesight could be going too. For some reason I am now wanting a pickle.

  7. lol Glad you were able to figure out why it wasn't opening. Sometimes those things are so hard to see and just as hard to remove. Yummmm....I love pickles!

    1. Me too! I felt so silly, after figuring out why the lid wasn't coming off.

  8. The older I get the more "pickle" moments I have. My friend was telling me about her eighty yr old mother's mental decline-her example was mistaking the phone for the TV remote-I did not admit to her I've already been there , done that.

    1. It's scary knowing more of those moments are coming. Hopefully, we can laugh at ourselves and just roll with it.

  10. A couple of weeks ago I used all my might to open a jar of banana pepper rings and wound up with jar juice all over my pajamas. Ugh! :)

  11. Oh goodness! haha...the cellophane seems a bit redundant to me...don't they think their canning seal worked? lol....

    1. I agree! It's hard enough to open the dang things without the cellophane. It could up gym memberships, though. Lol!!
