Take Me To That Place

Do you know that place where you feel all is right in your world? I love it,
when I feel like that. And I did, yesterday afternoon.

I was sitting on the porch picking out pecans from their newly cracked shells and
I became aware of how peaceful my surroundings were. I heard a
neighbor's cat meowing, birds chirping and not much else.

Despite the fact that I haven't taken down the fake bluebird yet,
Cardinals came to the feeder and had dinner. They didn't even mind that
I was sitting just a few feet away. The air was perfect.
The sky was a little cloudy, just enough to obscure the setting sun ever so slightly.
And I felt myself smiling.

That day, that feeling, that time sitting in the rocker on my porch took me to a place that I hope I am creating for my family, here at the lake. A place of peace and calm, a place that is reminiscent of simpler times in the country or on a farm.

Hope your day will take you to a similar place,
Laurie

    1. They were brave. They came back this evening. I'm still going to take down the fake bird, though. I just need to get a ladder out there so that I can reach it. Ha! Thanks, I thought it was time for a new picture. Oh, I tried your recipe, just with different ingredients. I didn't have anymore cranberries and I don't care for sweet potatoes. So, I sauteed the bacon and onions and added diced carrots and potatoes. It was really good, but with a much different taste than yours.

  3. It is funny how you ended your post, Laurie, because as I was reading it I thought- that reminds me of my childhood on the farm. We all need those days of peace and serenity and in this world sometimes they get further and further apart. xo Diana

  5. Laurie, I feel the same way about my home. I hope it never wears off. I get up and find myself surrounded by a peaceful world and remember to praise God for this seemingly rare blessing. Your view is outstanding, the cardinals an extra bonus!

    1. Thank you, Tanya! You can have a comfortable, peaceful place, too. Just decide what's important to you and start working towards making it happen. My favorite quote is "If you can dream it, you can achieve it." And I certainly believe that.
