"Major Tom To Ground Control"

This was taken a month ago.
My Colorado child has been taking flying lessons. And, we knew that her solo flight was coming up. I didn't want to know when it was, exactly. I knew I would worry, probably in vain. I told Whitney that when the day was near to text me and tell me she loves me....just in case. Lol!
Did she? NO!
But, at least she didn't tell me that she was going to solo today, either.
I was out running errands when Cliff texted me and said that he saw Whitney on Squawk (some app that tracks) and asked if she was soloing today. I said, "Oh Lord, I don't know and I didn't want to know until it was over." But now that I knew, I had to follow her, too. I have the Find My Friends app on my phone. The only thing was that I couldn't track her because I was in the middle of nowhere and only had one bar on my phone. I had to rely on Cliff's updates. Y'all, I prayed the whole time I was driving for her to be safe and then Cliff saw that she had landed. I was so relieved, but then, just seconds later he said she was flying again. OMG! We figured the first time was with her instructor and this second time was the real deal. I was nervous, again. By this time, I was in the grocery store. I prayed up and down every aisle of Bi-Lo. Cliff was constantly updating me and finally, somewhere in the frozen food section, he let me know that she had landed. Whew!!
My Colorado child had completed her first solo flight! And, I had a flurry of emotions. Pride, relief and joy that she is doing something she loves.
Taking off in Cessna 172. Whitney said this was right after she landed with her instructor....she stopped and told the instructor to get out.

Receiving her certificate showing that she had successfully completed her first solo flight.
Whitney is still in the clouds.
I'm just relieved that she soloed safely.....and, I'm happy for her, too!
