Cliff and I can't express in words how proud of Lidia and Sawyer we are! They are not only ridiculously smart, but they are beautiful inside and out. I'm so glad I get to be their grandmama, endearingly called LaLa.
Lidia and Sawyer had their awards program at school today.
Lidia received a certificate for "A" Honor Roll.
Sawyer received the "A" Honor Roll for the year award as well as a
ribbon recognizing him for being one of the top five students in third
grade.
(That's him on the right.)
After the program, I was hugging on Sawyer as we walked to the car and I was telling him how proud we were of his hard work. I told him that he got his smarts from me. He replied, "Really?" Then I told him that he got some of it from Papi and that his mama was a little bit smart, too.
The rest of the conversation went as follows:
Sawyer said: I knew Papi was smart, but I didn't know you were.
Laurie said: Why not?
Sawyer said: You never told me.
Laurie said: Well, I graduated high
school in the top five, too. And Papi graduated as
Valedictorian of his class. I, also, graduated at the top of
my class in college.
He seemed pleasantly amused and surprised.
Laurie said: How do you know that Papi is smart?
Sawyer said: Because when we were working on the boat, Papi started using numbers that I never heard of before. He was using Algebra.
LOL!!!! He cracks me up!
Talk soon,
Laurie
It's the same here:) Jacques is ..was an engineer..so the boys have heard how smart he is and can fix things too etc:)
ReplyDeleteSo nana can bake etc.. I also did very well in school..:)
But they have only heard about grandad.
Oh how cute they are..Lidia is glowing.
Proud though that they associate Jacques with being so smart:)
I had to really think about it for a minute. It's true that some things they don't know, if we don't tell them. Doesn't that put things into perspective. They are an open slate and it's our responsibility to teach them. This little conversation is so typical of Sawyer, though. He is so innocent and truthful in his observations. But he cracks me up at the same time. I didn't ask him what he knows about me, but I think I will. It should prove to be very entertaining. Lol!
DeleteOh you must be busting at the seams, Laurie!
ReplyDeleteIt must be so rewarding to have such lovely smart grandchildren...
Well deserved I am sure...
Lidia is becoming quite a beautiful young lady indeed!
I think for sure Papi told Sawyer that he was smart...hahaha!
Enjoy your day...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Thank you Linda, I'm am very proud and full of love for sure. You might be right....I can hear Cliff telling Sawyer that he was smart. Lord only knows what Cliff tells these children. HaHa!! You just wait, I imagine Miss V is and will be very smart in school, also. She's already beautiful! Your heart will swell with pride so much that you will think it's going to burst.
DeleteI think your lovely granddaughter resembles you...a lot!
DeleteI've had a few people tell me that. I'll take the compliment....I think she's gorgeous. And thank you!
DeleteOut of the mouths of babes! You just never know what goes through their little minds. (Kinda scary, huh?) ;o}
ReplyDeleteHaHa!!! Don't you just love it? Oh yeah, they can be brutally honest. I always say, if you don't want to hear the answer, don't ask the question.
DeleteWhat GREAT kids - proves that a loving SUPPORT system like you and your daughter have in place with these two, WORKS! GREAT kids - and beauties (tell Sawyer that translates to "handsome" for boys), both. You might need to start a "Sawyer Said" section! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tanya. I know for sure that a well rounded support system produces great kids. I'll tell Sawyer that you think he's handsome. I can see him grinning now. I used to post conversations with Sawyer, every once in awhile. Maybe I should start again. Good idea!
DeleteI love it! Thank you for telling all this beauty! What a wonderful grandchildren you have. Great pics too.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Jedidja!
DeleteThe apple doesn't fall far from the tree...
ReplyDeleteHaHa! I've heard that a few times, too!
DeleteYou should be proud! That's what we grands are here for. I figure they got a lot of smarts from all of the beforementioned. I also figure that a lot of their inside out beauty comes from La La!
ReplyDeleteAww, you are just too sweet, Lynn. Thank you!
DeleteSuper cute, beautiful, smart and witty! Yep, takes after you! Isn't Algebra that stuff you never use after you graduate? (I was horrible in math..just sayin'!) Congrats to those sweet Grandkiddos!
ReplyDeleteThank you, YaYa! I was horrible in math, too....actually, I just didn't try. Who in their right mind wants to compare apples to oranges. I had a math teacher tell that once. It was down hill from there. Cliff was a math major in college and I'm so happy someone in the family understands the stuff.
DeleteWell, you'll just have to use some trigonometry terms and show off! hahahaha...
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the grands.....so nice to be recognized for their hard work!
Lol! Afraid I didn't get the math gene. I'll have to use my words. HaHa! Thank you for the congrats. It is nice to see them get some well deserved recognition.
DeleteKids say the cutest things! Nancy
ReplyDeleteDon't they? I wish I had written down all the silly little things the kids have said over the years.
DeleteNumbers that I never heard before... ahaha, so cute!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to both of them! They surely deserve a nice summer vacation now.
He says the funniest things all the time. Thank you! Yes, summer vacation starts today and they will be spending a lot of it with us. I'm looking forward to a great summer.
DeleteDear Smarty ....loved this post!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janey!
