Mrs. Mama Bluebird has made a nest in the crook of the downspout on the rain gutter.....just a few feet from my car. Mr. Daddy Bluebird was acting so crazy the other day that I thought she might be in labor.
Mr. Daddy Bluebird kept trying to get into my car. He would try to fly into the side window and when that didn't work, he tried to fly into the back window. He rested in between. Look at him. He looks confused or panicked. I can only guess why he wanted in the car so badly.
I know some men start acting a little crazy, when their wives start having babies.
Made me wonder.
Does having bluebird babies cause this much befuddlement, too?
You gave me a giggle with this post! Birds and animals do do some strange things at times . . . but I don't think we'll ever understand what's going on in their little brains. ;o}
ReplyDeleteThat's for sure! But, if you watch long enough, you can almost make out their personality. I think this one is a young daddy and these are his first babies. He just looks like..."OMG! What did I get myself into." Lol!!
DeleteLaurie, So funny. I love bluebirds and yours is so pretty. We had a cardinal that was around here and totally crazy. When my grandson came to visit I put shopping bags over his cars' side mirrors..He laughed. I told him it was to keep the cardinal from looking at himself and pooping on his car. So when he left, I took the bags off the mirrors and sure enough here comes the cardinal and he perched on the mirrors edge and pooped. My grandson's face said it all..see Nana is not just a crazy old lady. LOL. I hope your sweet birds stay and not just have to fly every time some one walks near. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteThat's too funny, Susie! The mama bird is staying put. The daddy, well...he's just crazy. We had a bird make a nest in the same spot last year, not sure if it's the same one. But, I want to make our place more hospitable for them. I love bluebirds, too.
DeleteLaurie, I believe that behavior is territorialism. The male blue bird sees his reflection in the glass and thinks it's another male. He's just protecting his brood.
DeleteI agree with Jim....
DeleteBut....he sure is the cutest little thing!
The bluebird.....not Jim! But....maybe he is too! Hahaha!
Enjoy your evening...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Hey Jim, I'm sure you're right. Thanks for restoring my faith in his sanity.
DeleteLinda, I've never met Jim, but he takes the most gorgeous photos of orchids you'll ever see. Check out his website.
You are a good story teller ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sara!
DeleteThat is funny... well not for the little bluebird though.
ReplyDeleteHe did make me giggle.
