Baby Tears Experiment

 Baby Tears....

She is growing so well. Her tender little branches, if you call them that, are getting so long. Because I love this little plant so much, a few weeks ago I decided to conduct an experiment to see if I could root a piece in water. Here she is in a wee little vase, all of about three or so inches tall. Living and yes, rooting...hopefully.

Weeks later.....and I mean it took weeks, but she started sprouting little fine hairs and then larger roots.

And now, here she is....rooted, planted and doing well. Living life on the corner of my desk. The experiment was a success!

  5. I have always loved baby tears. My mother always had a big plant in our wash room...and I always loved the sweet delicacy of it. xo Diana

    1. Almost! Pinch it off, put it in water and be patient. Check it ever so often for root growth and when you see roots, plant it up. I grew some box woods like this a few years ago. They require a little different method, though. But it's a great way to multiply your plants for next to nothing.

  8. Oh, my. I used to have a couple of large baby tears plants, but haven't now for years. And I used to love it so and I did root cuttings like you've done. I'm going to keep my eyes open this spring when the nurseries start to offer young houseplants for sale. I'll pick one up if I find it.

    1. Isn’t Baby Tears just the cutest little plant? I had to order mine online. I never could find it in the nurseries around home. Sometimes Lowes will have them, but not at the time I was searching. Hope you find one! If I lived closer, I would share a piece of mine with you. I love to root cuttings. It’s so much fun watching new plants grow! I know you share the same feeling. Happy Monday!

    1. Thank you, YaYa! HaHa! Oh goodness, that fried chicken was so good. It was my last one, though. Big diet changes here.....I'm planning to make a post about that in the near future. But as for the book, I think you'll love it. Dot Frank is such a good story teller.
