The Ugly Cry

Sawyer was baptized, Sunday.
I almost did the ugly cry. I was trembling inside and had to hold my hand over my mouth to keep from doing it. We were so proud of him!

Sawyer and his Aunt Whitney, after church. Sawyer was presented a Bible by the church and he loves it. He has read it everyday since Sunday.

Lidia and her youth group at church did an interpretive dance depicting the crucifix of Jesus, also on Sunday.
I almost did the ugly cry. I was trembling inside and had to hold my hand over my mouth to keep from doing it, again. We were so proud of her!

Cliff, Whitney, Sawyer and Lidia kayaking at the lake this weekend.

Lidia can paddle like a pro and she was giving Sawyer a ride. But at some point, Sawyer fell off the back of the boat. He said it took him five minutes to fall off. His legs went straight up and he was trying to balance, but lost the battle. Luckily, he had on his short wet suit. The water was cold.

Whitney came home from Colorado for a few days. We were so excited and had a great visit! But, she had to leave to go home yesterday.
I did the ugly cry!!! I trembled inside and balled like a baby. It never gets easy.

How was your weekend?
Laurie

    1. You don't really know how much you miss them until they come home and then leave before you've had enough. We did have some wonderful things happen and a wonderful visit with Whitney.

    1. Yeah girl, the ugly one! It's a sight! We had a wonderful, emotional weekend. It's going to be cool at the beach this week...but sunny. Can't wait to sit by the ocean and daydream.

  3. Congrats to Sawyer and hugs to you! Sometimes those ugly cries just sneak up on us! (They bring on the black tears down the cheeks!)

    1. Thanks, YaYa! Black tears...that's the first time I've heard them called that, but I know exactly what you mean.

  4. The "ugly cry" - this made my day. Now I have a label for it. It's usually means doing it WHENEVER someone visiting leaves...or I am leaving CO for NV. I doubt I will ever get over it. Sounds like Easter was wonderful, in spite of holding back and few tears of joy.

    1. Younger was funner by far, Monique. I made the comment to a friend that we raise our children to be independent and then we give them wings. Why, why do we do that?

    1. Thanks, Susie. Dunking twice....that's so funny! I remember getting baptized, too. It was a special day and the same pastor that baptized me, baptized Sawyer and my granddaughter (Lidia). He, also, baptized my oldest daughter, the mother of Lidia and Sawyer. And then just last year became her father-in-law. We have a lot invested in him. Lol!

  7. What wonderful times you wrote about in this post. (The thought of kayaking in our area right now . . . well, that just seems an impossibility. Heck, it would be because all the lakes are still covered with ice!) Beautiful pictures and memories made.

The worst thing about my ugly cry is that once I start, I can't stop! I make a real fool of myself. ("Why are you STILL crying?")

    1. Yeah, I just saw your snow pictures. I would say kayaking is out for a a little while. I can barely stop the ugly cry, once started, too. It's a frightful sight. It's best that I go to the bathroom and get it over with. Lol!

  8. Nice day to go kayaking! That blue sky looked so nice!
I do the ugly crying every time I leave my home country, there's really no way around it...
