War Paint Weekend

Saturday was so warm, sort of hot, actually. The lake is still much too cool to go swimming and I'm pretty sure Lidia and Sawyer have outgrown their wet-suits, so they opted to play down by the water's edge, instead. Maybe you've noticed that our soil is red clay. According to Sawyer, it makes great war paint.

Lidia was all to happy to apply the war paint.

Thick is good.

It's important to have complete coverage.

 Until, it starts to dry.

They had a time trying to wash the war paint off, down at the lake.
It was straight to the showers for them.

Be still my heart! She is growing up way too fast.

Before                                                                     After

And because it's Spring and I love blooms and flowers, I'm sharing the crab apple tree, again.

Happy Days,
Laurie

  1. Red clay! You could package that up in cute little jars and sell it for a pretty penny as a facial! haha.

    1. Thank you and thanks for stopping by, Mickey. Saturday was pretty warm, but Sunday night it dropped into the 30's. We were back to our usual warmth today. Hope you enjoyed your snow.

  3. What kids can't think of just cannot be thought of, Laura! This is just too funny. Talk about natural sunscreen, but Sawyer might have come up with something. Does it put you in the mind of an old National Geographic film made of some of the natives in some remote place? It does to me! They are beautiful children. But, I think you and I might just agree on that. Lidia is plain gorgeous. I see she and our Sophie will be having something in common soon. She think she has an appointment with an orthodontist soon. By the way, there is quite a bit of clay(more like "slip" rather than red in most places, where I came up. It was down in Southeast Georgia. Being of American Indian heritage, I might just have been guilty of a little of this too. It does dry fast and it IS hard to get off(lol)! I loved your post!

    1. Thank you, Lynn. Yes, Lidia got her braces last fall. Sophie will have fun choosing the colors of her bands. Lidia picks colors for whatever holiday is close by. I'm used to sand....so this clay is something I'm learning to deal with. LOL! And yes, I can see you putting on your war paint back in the day.

  4. People go to the Dead Sea and pay to have the black mud spread all over them for the health benefits. Perhaps your red clay has its own medicinal properties. :)

  6. That looks like so much fun! I wonder why we, as adults, grow out of these experiences? Maybe I'll just have to go out and roll in the mud. Anybody want to join me? We have plenty of red clay up here.

    1. No, we sure don't have an outdoor shower. I guess if the lake was warmer, they could have just jumped right in. But, since it's still cold....it was a fun challenge.

      Happy Easter, Linda!
