My Birthday....

Yesterday, was my birthday. I spent it like most birthdays.....Christmas shopping. But before the shopping, I started my day with breakfast with Emily and Matt.

Next, it was off to the Amish furniture store to pick up a cabinet that I ordered a couple of months ago.  Emily and Matt had shopping of their own to do, but before leaving me, Matt gave me directions to the popular shopping hub. And then, I was left on my own to shop in the great city of Greenville. I was headed to the shoe store when.....Oh Lordy B......I got trapped in traffic under the red light, no more than two blocks down the road. I had already encountered a woman pulling out in front of me, nearly causing a crash. I decided that instead of ramming her and causing a scene on my birthday, that I would let there be peace on earth or at least right there in Greenville, South Carolina. And then there's this thing..... I am a wimp when it comes to heavy traffic and crowds. So, I decided to get the heck outta there.

I was homeward bound, when I decided to go to Greenwood, instead. Less traffic, less crowds......one hour and my Christmas shopping was done. I had a late lunch and then stopped by Publix to pick up groceries for our Christmas dinner with Emily, Matt, Lidia and Sawyer, before leaving for Colorado.

Hmmm......before I knew it, the day was over and thank goodness I lived to wonder what next year's birthday will bring.

  1. Oh no! I'm not a wimp when it comes to heavy traffic, I just hate it. This country has one of the highest rates of traffic accidents and fatalities so there are roads and times when I just refuse to get out and about. The silly government even made it okay to use the emergency lane at heavy traffic times, but guess what, there are a-holes who use them all the time. And rather than going at a low speed as they are supposed to, they fly. And then when there is an actual emergency, no one can get through because everyone has drifted over into the emergency lane because guess what, the government said it was okay. Silly, silly people. I utter a lot of vulgarities when I am driving. I really try not to, but it is inevitable. Glad you got your shopping done in a much more serene setting. :) Happy belated birthday! And happy holidays!

  2. I think you made some very wise decisions on your birthday!

We live in a very sparsely populated area where deer and moose are more of a problem than gridlock, but lack of vehicle traffic causes me to be even more of a nervous driver on our (infrequent) trips to "the big city."

Sending wishes to you, Laurie, for a happy belated birthday . . . and lovely holidays.

  3. Happy Birthday Laurie. I do not like heavy traffic , never did. I really hate all the new round abouts they have created here in Indiana...all because they think if saves gas...but what about people who don't do well in traffic or are slow drivers to start with..what are they to do. I think the round abouts are because people do not know how to do four way stops. LOL. Blessings for a new year filled with fun and all things good. xoxo,Susie
